Tiki Oasis Recap

Now that we at 23 Restaurant Services HQ have recovered from Tiki Oasis (well, maybe not our livers…) we’d like to thank all those who attended our seminar, all those who bought new/exclusive merchandise from our booth, and all those who we got to talk to about DTB and entrust us with the legacy.

Because, at the end of the day, that’s what we are…a hospitality company who you can entrust to run legacy brands like DTB.  And yes, while I know we’re in Tampa, I ask you for patience as we open the first few locations we have in the works, perfect them here, and soon we’ll be coming to your hometown, too! (We heard you loud and clear, SoCal!)

And for those of you who didn’t get to attend Tiki Oasis, check out our Shopify page to purchase exclusive Don the Beachcomber swag!

We also debuted two cocktails which will be featured on the Don the Beachcomber cocktail menu.  The M.N.P.D is a modern version of a classic Pearl Diver with a new an improved brown butter gardenia mix and macadamia nut liqueur.  And the Missionary’s Doomis a slightly richer version of the classic Missionary’s Downfall, but it’s just as refreshing as the original.  It never fails to make me smile when someone takes their first sip of one of our creations and says “Oh wow, that’s good!”

Here are a few takeaways from our weekend in San Diego:

  • The Tiki Community RULES!  Y’all really know how to have fun.  The love and welcoming spirit was tangible and something we’ll never forget.
  • There’s A LOT of cool and exciting Poly-Pop/Tropical Cocktail establishments in San Diego!  We had a group outing to False Idol (thanks Martin, and sorry for breaking that glass, opps…) We also visited Grass Skirt, Bali Hai, MotherShip, and Kindred.  Our heads are reeling from all the inspiration these locations provided.  It’s homework, you know.
  • The legacy of Donn Beach and Don the Beachcomber is palatable.  We have to get this right!  We owe it to you and the legacy, otherwise you’ll be hunting us down in our sleep!

Lastly, we also want to thank Baby-Doe and Otto Von Stroheim and ALL of their team for putting on one hell-of-a party!
